Club Nintendo 2012 Gold and Platinum Elite Status Rewards Revealed

July 6, 2012

Club Nintendo announced today their Platinum and Gold rewards for 2012. The Platinum members exclusively get a set of three posters (the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Kid Icarus: Uprising) or a deck of Mario playing cards.

Gold members (or platinum members who don’t want the cards or posters) get the standard calendar which seems to be the new yearly gold level prize.

Alternatively, if you are a platinum or gold member who doesn’t want any of the physical prizes, you can instead choose to get a downloadable game. You can choose from Super Mario Kart or The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask from the Wii Virtual Console, Metroid II: Return of Samus from the 3DS Virtual Console, or Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! from DSiWare (only redeemable on a 3DS, though).

What do you think? Stay tuned for my… impressions.

Lego Legend of Zelda Reaches 5000 Supporters on Lego Cuusoo!

April 10, 2012

Lego Cuusoo blows my mind. It’s a totally incredible concept. Fans put their models on the website and if their idea gets 10,000 supporters, Lego reviews the concept and makes it a set (if the idea is doable). It’s basically Kickstarter without having to put any money down. So far, Lego Minecraft Micro World and two Japan models have stemmed from Cuusoo with Lego Shaun of the Dead in review.

Looking through the site you will find tons and tons of amazing models and concepts. Some of the most supported projects include Lego Back to the Future and Lego Modular Western Town. But of all the projects (with a substantial number of supporters) Lego Legend of Zelda I found by far the coolest. Today, the Lego Legend of Zelda project has acquired 5000 supporters (half of what they need for Lego to pitch this product to Nintendo). With 5000 supporters, Lego designers will now start building concepts for possible Zelda sets.

As you can guess, I find this all extremely exciting and I wish this project the best of luck as it travels to the 10,000 supporter goal! And, if you are reading this and haven’t yet, go create a Cuusoo account and support some projects!

Zelda: Skyward Sword – Link Poops

November 10, 2011

In response to Apple’s $0.99 downloadable games and the negative reactions to the 3DS and Wii U, Nintendo is making their famous characters poop in their latest adventures. The question anyone and everyone will ask after viewing this video, WHY DIDN’T HE PULL DOWN HIS PANTS?

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition Releases Tomorrow

September 27, 2011

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition is making it’s way to DSiware and the Nintendo 3DS eShop tomorrow. Considering it’s free, it’s supports up to four players, it has new levels, and it’s Zelda, I’m pretty excited. Read Kotaku’s preview here to get your mouth watering (if it isn’t already!)

It’s finally here, Nintendo’s E3 press conference. We will learn about Project Cafe, Super Mario 3DS, Mario Kart 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and many, many more. This is sure to be an exciting E3 for any Nintendo fan or any fan of gaming in general.

Above is an E3 bingo sheet created by Joystiq. It’s pretty self explanatory and it should be fun to play after and during the event.

Are you ready for 9:00 PST tomorrow?

Super Mario 3DS, Starfox 64 3D, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Coming this Year. Mario Kart Might be Delayed.

May 26, 2011

Miyamoto recently made the following comments.

– “Now, we are focusing more on games for the 3DS – we want to release lots of games for it this year. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be released in June, Starfox this summer and Super Mario 3D, which is completely original, is coming this year. I am involved with these titles and Mario Kart.”

– “Starfox uses the gyro-sensor and the joystick; the combination is the key to its gameplay. Because it’s 3D, you have the depth in the screen, so you can aim perfectly. When you have 3D on all the time and are using the gyro-sensor, it can be quite difficult to view it, but if you put it in 2D all the time, you would be missing some of the enjoyment, so I guess you have to adjust and find the best way for you to play. I have a tip: if you have an office chair with wheels on and an armchair, that’s the ideal way to play games that use the gyro sensor.”

– “Super Mario 3D will be a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64, although that doesn’t exactly convey what it is like – if you play it at E3 you will see what I mean. For example, when floors are floating in space, in 2D, it’s difficult to judge distances, but in 3D, it is easy to. If I tell you everything, I won’t be able to talk about anything at E3. But the power-ups you mention are what you think you are. And you probably know what is going to happen using those characters already.”

– (The original Ocarina of Time release) “It ran at 20fps on the Nintendo64, but on the 3DS, it runs at 30fps, so there is extra smoothness of movement. The graphics, too, have been strengthened: you can feel the immersiveness of its world in 3D. Plus, the touchscreen lets you place items wherever you want them to be. In the original, it was really difficult, say, to change into your boots in the water dungeon, but now it’s easy. And in the original, it could be confusing when, say, using the bow, whether you were supposed to push the stick up or down to aim it – but now we have the gyro-sensor on the 3DS, it’s easy.”

Sounds like Mario Kart might be delayed until 2012, although it’s nice to have another confirmation of Super Mario 3DS coming this year.
